What Does 30% Tint Mean?

What Does 30% Tint Mean?

30% tint means that the window tint allows 30% of the light to shine through the glass once applied. In other words, 30% tint blocks 70% of the light from passing through the glass.

The tint percentage refers to Visible light transmission (VLT) which is how much light a window film allows to pass through. The lower the tint % is the darker the window film. The higher the tint percentage is the lighter the window tint is.

Is 30 percent tint dark?

A vehicle with a 30% tint will give you a darker appearance but is still very easy to see through making it one of the most popular tint shades. It is considered a medium shade as it is right between 5% which is the darkest and 50% which is a very light tint and considered clear by most.

Can you see through 30 tint at night?

Yes, 30% is one of the most popular tint shades and you can certainly see through it at night. 30% is legal in many states and of course it would not be legal if you could not see through it at night. With that said, everyone is different so some drivers find it difficult to see through compared to clear glass. If legal in your state, 30% is a great choice for side windows or the back window. It is absolutely never advised to put 30% on your front windshield though and is illegal most if not every state.
